RANKING KEROJA LADANG SAWIT – PROFITABILITY RANKING

 1. Harvesting — by far the highest

≈ RM15,000 profit / year (100 ha)

  • Basis: RM/ton
  • 100 ha ≈ 2,000 tons/year (avg 20 t/ha)
  • Margin ~15 per ton
  • Most profitable job in the entire plantation ecosystem
  • High skill, high labour, constant supervision
  • Usually the “king contract”

2. Loose Fruit Collection (per ton)

≈ RM7,000 profit / year (100 ha)

  • Add-on to harvesting
  • Calculated by recovery of loose fruits (~10% of tonnage)
  • Very profitable because labour is cheap and payment is tonnage-based

3. Fertilizer Application / Manuring (combined)

≈ RM4,000 – RM5,500 profit / year (100 ha)

  • Includes:
    • Manuring 1st Round
    • Manuring 2nd Round
    • Fertilizer Spreading
    • Fertilizer Application by ton
  • Total annual contract value ~RM44k
  • Margin roughly 10–12% depending on your crew size
  • Steady job, low risk, low capital, but not “high money”
  • Best suited for disciplined kampung crews

Less attractive Job for many, but good for local kampung people

4. Frond Stacking

≈ RM120 – RM150 profit per round (100 ha)
≈ RM500 – RM600 per year

  • Very small financial value
  • Light labour
  • Good as add-on, but won’t feed a company

5. Weeding / Slashing / Spraying

≈ RM260 – RM320 profit per full cycle (100 ha)
≈ RM1,000 – RM1,200 per year

  • Lowest contractor rate vs labour cost
  • Profit only makes sense with cheap manpower
  • done by small local teams for better cost saving

6. Circle / Path Weeding

≈ RM150 – RM200 per year (100 ha)

  • Small job, low payment
  • Minimal margin

7. Spraying / Herbicide Handling

≈ RM100 – RM150 per year (100 ha)

  • Very small contract value
  • Good only as top-up work to keep workers busy
